Learning to Embrace the Unexpected in the Creative Process

Creativity rarely follows a straight line. Some of the strongest ideas emerge from moments that initially appear to be mistakes.

Unexpected textures, surprising color relationships, or accidental marks often become the most compelling elements within a painting.

Rather than resisting these moments, I've learned that creativity often rewards curiosity. Allowing a painting to evolve naturally keeps the work fresh and prevents it from becoming overly predictable.

The willingness to adapt is often what separates a finished painting from one that truly comes alive.
